Last weekend, I’ve visited Hannover with my best friend Tara. I didn’t see her that much the past year, which was a bummer since we used to see each other at least once a week when we lived close to each other. When I received an invite to visit Hannover I was a bit sceptic at first, but it turned out to be the perfect destination for our girls trip! We did some sightseeing and learned more about history, had cocktails, enjoyed nature and most of all talked a lot, since we had a lot to catch up on! In this post I wanted to show you the highlights of our trip and what I especially enjoyed.

Herrenhäusen Gärten

The Herrenhäusen Gärten are the Versailles gardens of Hannover. They are in my opinion even prettier. We enjoyed walking around and also visiting ‘The Grotte’ by Niki De Saint Phalle, which was breathtaking. I can imagine these gardens are even prettier when the weather is sunny! Every summer there is also a fireworks competition, where on five dates there is a firework lightshow. The gardens definitely impressed me as they were my favorite part of our trip!

New Town Hall

You can go all the way up at the New Town Hall and enjoy a spectacular view over Hannover! There’s often a line, the best moment to go is during weekdays or on a Sunday because people often think the town hall is closed on Sunday.

Hannover Zoo

From an ethic point of view I’m not really the biggest fan of zoos but I must admit the Hannover zoo was a lot nicer than the ones I’ve already visited. You can take a boat trip that goes by zebras, giraffes and other animals which was a fun way to go around the zoo!

Sheraton Hannover Pelikan

Of course, you also have to sleep! I’ve stayed at the Sharaton Hannover Pelikan hotel and I would totally recommend this hotel. I have this mental checklist of what I think a hotel should have and I could tick all the boxes. A spacious and clean bathroom, a nice bed, silence, a good breakfast buffet (bonus points for the freshly made pancakes), bathrobes with slippers and friendly staff. That’s all you need for a nice stay, right? More information can be found a the hotel website.

As usual, I also made a vlog about my trip which you can check below. Have you ever visited Hannover? If not, you can find everything you need to know on the tourism site.
