A while back, I was invited by Cruise Connection and Royal Caribbean to try one of their cruises. We were very excited for this trip because a cruise is such a different way of travelling. Not knowing what to expect we travelled to Miami to board Harmony of The Seas, one of the biggest cruise ships in the world!
When we boarded we first spent 2,5 days on the ship while sailing to Saint Martin. Those 2,5 days were amazing! We discovered the ship and all the activities we could do. We started the day by working out in one of the biggest gyms I’ve ever been. During the day we loved to chill at the pool and Jeroen could work on his surfing skills on the flowrider. In the early evening we went ice-skating or simply enjoyed sunset with a drink. Thanks to the meal package we had so many dinner options in the six à la carte restaurants. I loved that the restaurants were cosy and romantic. You wouldn’t think you’re on board of a ship. After dinner we enjoyed a show, such as the aqua show, ice skating show or broadway show and then we ended the day with a drink in one of the bars.
After those 2,5 days it was time for our first stop, Saint-Martin. We had quit some time off the ship so we decided to rent a car for a day. We visited the famous Maho beach where you could watch planes right before they land, just a few meters above your head. Jeroen did some research and found some natural pools so we went on a little adventure finding them. After a good hike, we arrived and it was simply beautiful. We’ve returned our car and went back to the ship to spend our evening there.
The next day we arrived in Puerto Rico, which was our favorite stop. We are both city persons and I love exploring old towns. The old town of San Juan was so beautiful with all the small streets and colourful houses. We had a drink at the café where the Pina Colada was invented (I think you can guess our order). After that we slowly went back to the ship to watch the sunset and how we sailed away from Puerto Rico.
In the morning we arrived at the last stop, Haiti. Royal Caribbean has their own resort there, called Labadee. At the resort there is a beautiful beach, a restaurant, zip line and more. Perfect for a day of sun bathing and relaxing by the beach.
After that we had one more full day on the ship where we just had a chill day in the sun. In november with the Belgian winter ahead of us, that’s priceless ;-). We’ve visited the restaurants we liked the most again for lunch and dinner (for us it was Jamie’s Italian and Uzumi). We’ve ended the day with drinks in the bar, sad that this trip was coming to an end! We enjoyed it so much. We travel a lot but this trip truly felt as vacation. You don’t have to plan much as the ship brings you from one location to the other. I loved the mix between relaxing at the ship and exploring new places.
